Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai was born in the city of Mangalore, Karnataka in 1973. Considered to be one of the most beautiful women in the world, Aishwarya Rai has become a Bollywood star of global renown. After leaving architecture school, she entered the Miss India contest, placing second behind another actress-to-be, Sushmita Sen. She moved on from the contest to compete and win the Miss World competition, and began modelling in London and Mumbai.

Aishwarya started acting in the Tamil film Iruvar with the famous South Indian actor Mohanlal. The film received high praise and won international attention, and introduced Rai to the world. Her first Bollywood film was Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, but it was not until Jeans that she had a success and breakthrough. After that, she went on to star in such films as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Mohabbatein, and Devdas, which won her many awards and went on to be among the most successful films of the decade. She has also been in the criticcaly acclaimed Guru and the wildly successful Dhoom 2, cementing her status in the pantheon of Indian acting.

Aishwarya Rai has won many awards for her acting, including three Filmfare awards, 5 Star Screen Awards and a Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor in India. Recently, she has been acting in South Indian cinema but he maintains a high profile in Bollywood as well. As one of the most photographed women in the world, she will continue to captivate her fans and audiences alike.
